Who is Francis and the Lights you ask?  After two widely circulated EPs, a buzzed about music video that leaped to mtv2 without a record label, and a history of legendary New York shows, Francis and Lights now unveil their awaited 8-song debut, “It’ll Be Better,” and embark on a North American tour. But we like to think of them as a great band who has a hybrid sound Like a cross between Phil Collins  and soulful rock!

In the above music video, directed by band member Jake Schreier, Francis and the Lights perform It’ll Be Better’s 5th track “Darling, It’s Alright.” Shot on 35mm film, it captures a real live performance (no pantomime), in one single take (no cuts or edits), using a new technique dubbed “Editing with Light.” Francis stays fixed in one place, as carefully placed and choreographed film lights reveal pieces of the music and band (including long time guitarist Jump Back Jake Rabinbach).

Francis and the Lights is a band from New York City, led by Francis Farewell Starlite. The band was formed at Wesleyan University and their first show was a performance of the posthumous Otis Redding record “The Immortal Otis Redding” in its entirety. Francis and The Lights are currently touring with hip-hop boy wonder Drake, who hand picked the band to open for him on his North American tour.
